As a lot of people are still working from home it is more and more important to find different ways to create team spirit and stimulate good mental health. 

Art has the power to root us into the present moment and calm the mind. Putting aside worried thoughts or feelings of sadness relating either to events in the past or anticipated events in the future.
  
When someone is immersed in the creative process, like painting, it has a positive impact on our well-being by reducing stress and helping to calm and focus the mind, it is also a very enjoyable and rewarding activity, that helps to increase feelings of self-appreciation as well as give people a sense of purpose. Art can help to give someone meaning and purpose as well as start feeling better about themselves. 


In my workshops, I show people the building blocks and methods of how to assemble a painting. However the application of paint and brush strokes are unique to every individual. It always amazes me that we all paint the same picture but the outcomes are all unique and individual to the participant. As a team building event its good to be placed outside of your comfort zone, tackle new challenges and insecurities and the opportunity for people to shine in unexpected tasks.  


For the educational sector its an opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of the student. Staring at the blanc canvas, the insecurity of whether you can perform, the fear of making a fool out of yourself, these are all emotions that many of us have forgotten, its something students face every day. 


To put it shortly. Painting puts you in the here and now, it focus and calms your mind. The creating of making the painting, with step by step guidance, gives a sense of fulfilment and self-appreciation - it makes you feel good!
